Large-scale nitrous oxide seizures in Europe

Overview

Authorities in France and Denmark have conducted significant seizures of nitrous oxide, targeting large-scale illicit distribution.

In southwestern France, customs officers intercepted approximately 30 tonnes of the substance, consisting of roughly 6,000 bottles. The operation involved a roadside check of a Lithuanian-owned truck and a subsequent search of a premises in Isle-Jourdain. A 32-year-old driver is under investigation for charges including illicit importation, transport, and possession of psychotropic substances in an organized group.

In Denmark, police executed what Vice Police Inspector Espen Godiksen described as the largest seizure of its kind in the country, discovering approximately 14 tons of nitrous oxide materials. This included roughly 6,300 filled ‘Fastgas’ canisters. Three men, aged 25, 41, and 48, are currently in pre-trial detention and face accusations of supplying the substance to warehouses in Copenhagen and Gadstrup.
