Governments across Latin America continue a broad wave of infrastructure upgrades. Airport modernization projects in Colombia, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina involve terminal expansions, runway rehabilitations, and new cargo facilities, backed by significant public investment and future concession plans. In Colombia, work continues at Ernesto Cortissoz Airport in Barranquilla on international terminals and a cargo hub, while the El Edén Airport upgrade in Armenia has been approved with over $312 billion earmarked for phased construction. Mexico’s Puebla state has announced a plan to invest over one billion pesos to modernize Hermanos Serdán International Airport, including the creation of an airport district. In Chile, the Ministry of Public Works has begun a $7 billion runway rehabilitation at Puerto Natales’ Teniente Julio Gallardo aerodrome. Additionally, the Balmaceda Airport in the Aysén region has opened a new passenger terminal following a $70 million investment, and authorities are evaluating the relocation of the Villa O’Higgins aerodrome to accommodate tourism. Municipal authorities are simultaneously launching local-scale works.
