Latin American theater productions and milestones

Overview

New theatrical productions and anniversary celebrations are taking place across Latin America.

In Costa Rica and Colombia, actors are debuting new works. Costa Rican actor Andy Gamboa is set to premiere ‘Tráfico’, a play by Sergio Blanco exploring identity and violence. In Colombia, Primo Rojas will present the monologue ‘Cuatro maneras de matar a la mamá’, a black comedy examining mother-son relationships.

Other regional companies are marking milestones. The group Hijos del Ocio is celebrating an anniversary with a 30-performance season featuring four works designed for immersive, non-conventional spaces. Meanwhile, in the Dominican Republic, Teatro Guloya is marking 35 years of independent theater with the premiere of the dark satirical comedy ‘Bendito Gordo’.
