The severe cyclone impacting the Baltic region has expanded its reach, bringing extreme weather conditions to Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. In Latvia, a red alert was issued for areas around Riga, Jelgava, and the Vidzeme coast, where wind gusts reached up to 30 m/s. Heavy rain caused flooding in Riga, prompting the deployment of water pumping units. In the western Kurzeme region, rainfall could exceed 100 mm in a single day. The storm caused widespread disruption, leaving over 100,000 households without electricity and prompting hundreds of emergency calls regarding fallen trees and building damage. The event resulted in at least two fatalities and several injuries. In Lithuania, the crisis deepened as over 111,000 customers lost electricity, with Kazlų Rūda among the hardest hit. Some residents faced multi-day shortages of drinking water, heat, and mobile signals. Local officials in Kazlų Rūda and the Anykščiai district considered declaring states of emergency to facilitate the delivery of supplies to isolated areas. Following the initial event, the region has remained under unsettled weather patterns. As of September 4, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC) issued yellow-level warnings for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and wind gusts of 12 to 17 m/s in Kurzeme and Vidzeme. Saturated soil and heavy precipitation maintained risks of coastal water level rises and flooding in low-lying areas. By September 6, rainfall in Latvia continued to exceed monthly norms. Observation stations in Priekuļi recorded 127.4 mm against a norm of 58.1 mm, while Zosēnu and Saldus also saw significant totals. A While the start of the week may see slightly drier conditions and partly cloudy skies, new cyclone is cyclones are expected to influence the region starting strengthen by Tuesday afternoon, bringing widespread rain and gusty winds, particularly along the coast.
