Law enforcement operations against illegal gambling in Rome

Overview

Law enforcement authorities in Rome have conducted operations targeting illegal or unauthorized gambling activities.

In early October, local police dismantled an illegal gambling ring in the Via dei Fori Imperiali area. The operation targeted a group of eight Romanian nationals who used a ‘three bells game’ scheme to deceive tourists. Police seized gambling equipment and approximately 1,000 euros in cash.

Shortly after, the Guardia di Finanza conducted an extraordinary operation involving over 80 personnel, including canine and aerial units, to monitor entertainment devices. This enforcement action resulted in 15,000 euros in fines issued to three slot machine venues found operating outside of permitted municipal hours.
