Law enforcement operations in Chihuahua

Overview

Law enforcement in Chihuahua has transitioned from localized robbery investigations to broader security operations involving asset forfeiture.

In late September, the Chihuahua District Center Zone Prosecutor's Office conducted several searches in Chihuahua City targeting aggravated robbery. These operations resulted in the seizure of an iPhone from a residence in the Independencia neighborhood, while other searches in the Madera 65 and Valle de la Madrid neighborhoods yielded no objects of interest.

By mid-October, the Chihuahua State Attorney General's Office announced a new strategy to utilize asset forfeiture against property seized during security operations. This initiative aims to achieve “zero impunity” by increasing sanctions against criminals. The first application of this measure followed a coordinated raid in Hidalgo del Parral on October 11, involving the Mexican Army and state agencies. The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 983 kilograms of suspected marijuana along with various packaging equipment.
