Law enforcement operations in Honduras
Overview
Honduran law enforcement has conducted a series of judicial and police operations targeting organized crime and drug trafficking, particularly in the department of Colón.
In mid-September, raids led by the Public Ministry, the Directorate of Narcotic Trafficking, and the Special Prosecutor's Office Against Organized Crime in Yoro and Colón resulted in the detention of five individuals. These operations focused on illegal firearm possession and wildlife crimes, leading to the seizure of various rifles, shotguns, handguns, ammunition, and surveillance equipment.
By October, authorities reported expanded activity in Colón during the Morazánica holiday week. These operations resulted in 117 people being processed in drug trafficking cases and 33 individuals being referred to the Prosecutor's Office. Law enforcement also executed 10 arrest warrants and seized four firearms, 10 vehicles, and 46 motorcycles.
During the 2026 Semana Morazánica holiday, security and safety operations continued across various departments, including Colón and Yoro. Police activities during this period resulted in numerous arrests for crimes such as drug trafficking, robbery, and domestic violence. Additionally, the National Commission for Prevention in Mass Mobilizations (CONAPREMM) reported zero traffic fatalities during its nine-day operation, despite recording 85 injuries and 34 rescues.
