Lazio regional health administration reforms
Entities: Asl Roma 4 · Francesco Rocca · Lazio Region · Andrea Urbani · Emanuela Mari
Overview
In late July 2026 the Lazio regional government took two notable steps to improve health‑related services. On 25 July the regional president signed a decree naming a new head of the medical‑legal commission that handles special driving licences. The appointment follows the resignation of the previous commissioner, which had halted the commission’s work and forced many licence‑seeking citizens—particularly people with disabilities—to travel to Rome for examinations. The new president is expected to reactivate the commission for the ASL RM4 area, allowing local renewal visits and easing difficulties for disabled drivers and their families.
Two days later, on 27 July, the Lazio council approved a staffing plan for the Asl Roma 4 health trust, authorising the recruitment of 201 new employees, including doctors, nurses, technicians and social workers. The hires aim to cut waiting lists, expand bed capacity and improve operating‑room efficiency. Regional councilor Emanuela Mari thanked President Francesco Rocca and health‑integration director Andrea Urbani for the approval and urged swift recruitment.
Together, these actions illustrate the region’s effort to strengthen both specialized licensing services and overall health‑care capacity for its residents.
