Legal proceedings involving Gladson Cameli

Overview

The Superior Tribunal de Justiça (STJ) has upheld the conviction of former Acre governor Gladson Cameli. After the STJ's Special Court sentenced Cameli to 25 years and nine months in a closed regime, a fine, and over R$ 11 million in material damages for crimes including bidding fraud, embezzlement, and money laundering, his defense filed an extraordinary appeal. Minister Mauro Campbell Marques rejected the motion to bring the case to the Supreme Federal Court (STF), leaving the conviction in effect.
