In late July 2026 the Festival Internacional del Globo (FIG) in León, Guanajuato announced that Mexican regional Mexican singer Christian Nodal, together with the duo Xavi, Nodal would headline the event, event alongside the duo Xavi, creating the festival’s first double regional‑Mexicano bill. Feminist collectives, notably including the Red Feminista de León and the Ley Sabina Guanajuato group, issued public statements rejecting Nodal’s participation. They argued that his presence sends a contradictory message in a region plagued by femicide femicide, family violence and other forms of violence aggression against women, and called on the festival organizers and state authorities to adopt for gender‑perspective and human‑rights criteria for in publicly funded cultural programs. Nodal had not responded to the petitions at petitions. By 3 August the campaign had escalated, with activists demanding the concert’s cancellation.
