LG Energy Solution production expansion

Overview

LG Energy Solution is expanding its global manufacturing capacity across different battery technologies and regions. In Canada, its wholly-owned subsidiary NextStar Energy reached a milestone of producing 10 million battery cells at its Windsor, Ontario, facility. The plant, which focuses on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells for energy storage systems, has scaled production rapidly since beginning commercial operations in November of the previous year.

Simultaneously, the company has commenced operations at Plant 9 in Nanjing, China. This facility is designed to increase the supply of 2170 cylindrical batteries to meet high demand from the electric vehicle sector, specifically for the Tesla Model Y, as well as emerging needs in AI data center backup units, robotics, and aerospace.
