Lidl-Trek cycling team roster updates

Overview

The Lidl-Trek cycling team has announced several roster updates regarding contract extensions and new signings.

Eritrean rider Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier has signed a two-year extension, remaining with the WorldTour team through the 2028 season. Additionally, the team secured the signing of New Zealand national champion Ally Wollaston, who will join the squad for the 2027 season on a contract running through 2029.

Belgian sprinter Jordi Meeus has signed a two-year contract to join the team starting in 2027 and running through the end of 2028. Moving from Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe, where he has competed for six seasons, Meeus is expected to bolster the team’s sprint department by assisting in the lead-out train for Jonathan Milan, while also pursuing individual opportunities in one-day classics. Lidl-Trek CEO Andy Schleck described Meeus as a “major asset” for both the sprint group and the classics squad.

In addition to the men’s roster updates, the team has secured a major signing for its women’s division. Polish rider Kasia Niewiadoma-Phinney will join the squad in 2027 through 2028. A 2024 Tour de France Femmes winner and recent World Championship silver medalist, Niewiadoma-Phinney will transition to a leadership role at Lidl-Trek following nine years with Canyon-Sram, with a focus on general classification successes in major stage races.
