Lima Airport fee reduction and hub expansion

Lima Airport Partners (LAP) announced a cut to the international transit fee (TUUA) at Jorge Chávez International Airport, lowering it from US$10.05 to US$6.40 and planning to embed the charge in airline tickets. The move was presented as a response to criticism that the fee hindered the airport’s competitiveness as a regional hub. In parallel, Priority Pass introduced a dedicated fast‑track security lane for its members, aiming to reduce wait times for international travelers.

A few days later, LAP reiterated the fee‑reduction proposal, noting that airlines had not yet accepted the change and that the on‑site payment method would remain until an agreement is reached. The operator also outlined an ambitious “airport city” project intended to transform the Jorge Chávez area into an integrated aviation, commerce, logistics and services hub modeled on major international airports. The first phase targets capacity for up to 40 million passengers annually, roughly double the current level, to boost tourism, trade and foreign investment in Peru.
