L’Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science awards
Overview
The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program continues to recognize and support female researchers across various disciplines.
In France, the 2026 awards honored 35 doctoral and post-doctoral researchers selected from nearly 820 candidates. The laureates represent diverse fields including biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, engineering, and Earth sciences. Notable research includes studies on phase-change materials for temperature regulation and the internal mechanisms of stars.
In Turkey, the 24th annual ‘Women in Science Program’ provided support to four female researchers. Their projects encompass drug development for ALS, renewable energy storage via zinc-air batteries, portable paper-based analysis platforms, and the genetic mechanisms of tooth tissue healing. This iteration also included the establishment of the Women’s Health Research Network in partnership with EndoTürkiye to increase research visibility for understudied women’s health issues.
