Luciano Rodriguez transfer saga

In late July 2026 the Uruguayan forward Luciano Rodriguez, owned by Saudi Arabian club NEOM, became the focus of multiple transfer moves. On 26 July, Turkish Süper Lig newcomers Çorum FK announced an agreement with NEOM for Rodriguez’s signing, pending a medical in Istanbul. The club, promoted to the top tier for the first time, cited his speed and goal‑scoring ability as a boost to their attack.

A few days later, on 31 July, Brazilian Série A side Cruzeiro reported that it was close to finalising a loan deal for the same player, also from NEOM, with an option to purchase after the loan. Cruzeiro’s pursuit was driven by injuries to key forwards, prompting the club to accelerate negotiations. While Vasco da Gama had shown interest, Cruzeiro appeared to have secured the leading position.

Both reports illustrate NEOM’s willingness to move Rodriguez and the player’s attractiveness to clubs in different continents seeking to reinforce their attacking options.
