Lucid Motors Cosmos SUV development and operational reset

Lucid Motors has delayed the launch of its midsize Cosmos SUV to the second half of 2027. CEO Silvio Napoli described the delay as part of an “operational reset” intended to prevent previous quality-related issues. Despite a reported Q2 2026 net loss exceeding $1 billion, Lucid maintains $3 billion in liquidity, supported by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. While the company focuses on cost management and its robotaxi programme, development of the Cosmos continues. Recent updates indicate that camouflaged prototypes are currently undergoing durability, collision certification, and cold climate testing in New Zealand.
