Lung cancer screening program in Hungary

Overview

The National Koranyi Pulmonology Institute has introduced a free lung screening program at its 12th district center in Budapest. This initiative is part of a European Union project and utilizes low-dose CT (LDCT) scans to provide three-dimensional imaging for more effective detection of small abnormalities compared to traditional chest X-rays.

To participate, applicants must be between 50 and 74 years old and have a history of regular, active smoking for at least 15 years. Other requirements include having a smartphone and email address, not having undergone a lung CT scan within the previous 10 months, and having no history of malignancy, ongoing cancer treatment, or acute respiratory infections.
