Reports initially surfaced that Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli was considering Grêmio head coach Luís Castro as a candidate to replace Matthias Jaissle. Following a 1-0 defeat to Bragantino, pressure on Castro intensified due to Grêmio’s precarious position in the standings, sitting just one point above the relegation zone. Commentators have called for his departure, and club executive director Paulo Pelaipe stated that “everything has a limit.” Grêmio management has reportedly set a deadline for Castro to achieve positive results in upcoming matches, including the Gre-Nais derbies, to determine his future.
