Overview

The Macedonian university karate team began final preparations for the European University Karate Championships in Tirana, Albania. Following a successful performance at the World University Championships in Brazil, where the squad secured four medals, coach Boško Zaborski reported that the athletes were focused on technical and tactical refinements.

As the team traveled to Tirana for the competition, selector Bosko Zaborski noted that new organizational rules would impact their participation. Specifically, because all team members must belong to the same university, Macedonia was unable to register teams in the male and female kumite disciplines. The delegation, consisting of ten athletes, joined over 1,500 student-athletes from approximately 400 universities competing in various combat sports.
