Mactan-Cebu International Airport development

Overview

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is undergoing operational and infrastructural developments. The airport is expanding its international connectivity through new and resumed flight routes scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026. Airlines including Vietjet and Cebu Pacific are launching or restoring direct services connecting Cebu to destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai, and Nagoya.

Parallel to these route expansions, Aboitiz InfraCapital has invested ₱231 million into airport upgrades over a two-year period. These investments support modernization efforts, including the implementation of the ‘CEB Connects’ system to facilitate faster passenger transfers and the ‘CEB Balik’ center to assist returning overseas Filipino workers. Additionally, the airport has integrated new technologies, such as bridge-mounted equipment and electric ground support systems, intended to reduce airline operating costs and aircraft emissions.
