Madagascar is pursuing various international and domestic development initiatives through strengthened partnerships.

Diplomatically, the nation is working to reinforce bilateral ties with the United States and France. Discussions with US officials have focused on military and security cooperation to combat transnational crime, alongside health and commercial diplomacy. Meanwhile, French representatives have advocated for a renewed partnership centered on concrete impacts in health, sanitation, and investment to remain an attractive partner as Madagascar diversifies its international relations.

In the sectors of research and sustainability, Madagascar has renewed long-standing partnership frameworks for an additional five years. These include the ‘Forests and Biodiversity’ initiative, which focuses on forest conservation and community-led resource management, and the ‘Highland Production Systems and Sustainability’ (SPAD) partnership, which aims to support sustainable family farming through agricultural research and improved productivity.

Recent developments indicate continued efforts to expand economic and regulatory frameworks. The country is currently undergoing an anti-money laundering evaluation by ESAAMLG experts to assess the effectiveness of its financial systems. Additionally, Madagascar is seeking to broaden its economic ties through the Madagascar South Africa Chamber (Masacham) while continuing its efforts to revitalize its partnership with France.
