Madeira economic development initiatives

Overview

The Madeira Employment Institute has managed the Company and Employment Creation Program (CRIEE), which has supported the establishment of 625 companies and the creation of 1,036 jobs through a cumulative public investment exceeding 11.7 million euros. In the first nine months of the year, the program approved 33 business projects involving over 1.1 million euros in financial support.

Following these efforts, Regional Secretary of Economy José Manuel Rodrigues announced the opening of new incentive systems totaling over 30 million euros. This includes 6.7 million euros for a Transport Incentive System targeting industrial export companies and 24 million euros to support other operating costs. These measures aim to strengthen productive capacity and internationalization for Madeiran businesses to address challenges such as insularity and rising fuel costs.
