Overview
On July 26, Bhopal began a fare‑free passenger trial of ten electric buses under the central Prime Minister’s E‑Bus Service scheme. The trial operates on two city routes, with a hub at Board Office Chauraha, and includes digital ticketing, AI‑based passenger counting, CCTV, emergency buttons, LED displays and wheelchair lifts. A modern charging depot at Sant Hirdayaram Nagar supports the fleet, and twenty‑one buses have already arrived.
The trial will run until a formal inauguration on August 15, after which the state plans to expand the fleet to 100 electric buses on ten routes by the end of 2026. The initiative is part of the central PM‑eBus Sewa program.
Separately, Madhya Pradesh will launch the Jan Vishwas Abhiyan on August 7, a weekly Friday outreach where ministers and officials meet citizens to address grievances and review scheme implementation, aiming to strengthen accountability without additional budget allocation.
