In late July 2026, 2026 a major massive wildfire swept burned through the southwest of the Community of Madrid, prompting immediate mass evacuations and the opening conversion of emergency shelters. Local municipalities such as sports facilities in Alcalá de Henares and Alcobendas converted sports facilities into temporary housing, providing registration, health, nutrition emergency shelters.
