Major film releases and Academy Award prospects

Overview

Recent cinema repertoires in Serbia have highlighted several upcoming releases, most notably Christopher Nolan’s mythical action epic ‘Odiseja’, starring Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron. Other featured titles include ‘Ostrvo sećanja’, ‘Diger’, and ‘Razum i osećajnost’, alongside various animated features.

As the 2027 Academy Awards season approaches, industry attention has shifted toward major productions positioned as frontrunners. Christopher Nolan’s film, referred to as “The Odyssey” in this context and starring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Robert Pattinson, is considered a significant contender for Best Picture. Other notable films in the race include “Wild Horse Nine”, “The Invite”, and “Project Hail Mary”.

On an international level, Kosovo has selected Blerta Basholli’s film “DUA” as its official submission for the Best International Feature Film category, supported by publicity teams in Europe, New York, and Los Angeles.
