Overview
Preparations are underway for significant long-distance running events in India. In Kolkata, organizers of the JBG Kolkata Marathon unveiled the official finisher medal for the 11th edition of the World Athletics Labelled event, which is expected to host over 15,000 participants. The event includes mentoring sessions for women pacers to assist runners with technical aspects like rhythm and hydration.
In Delhi, the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon is set to host over 41,000 runners. Logistical arrangements include early Delhi Metro services and free transit for participants via QR code wristbands. The event features extensive medical support, including an ICU setup, and significant security presence. Economic projections suggest the marathon could impact the Delhi-NCR region by more than ₹400 crore through local business contributions.
