Malang regional security and law enforcement coordination
Overview
In late July 2026, Malang Police Chief AKBP Rulian Syauri initiated efforts to strengthen inter-agency coordination. This included meetings with Malang Regent HM Sanusi to discuss drug control, illegal racing, and community outreach, as well as consultations with the Kepanjen District Court and the Malang Prosecutor’s Office. Syauri stated, “We want to build strong coordination so that law-enforcement processes run smoothly and the community feels secure.”
By late August 2026, these coordination efforts transitioned into active security operations. Polres Malang launched the KRYD initiative, a joint patrol involving 85 personnel from the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and local government. These patrols, conducted from late night to dawn, targeted high-risk areas such as Kanjuruhan Stadium, Pakisaji, Kepanjen, Bululawang, and Gondanglegi to deter street crimes and illegal racing.
