Overview

In August 2026, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Haris TA in Manjeri, Malappuram, identifying him as a key conspirator in an illegal explosives case. This arrest increased the total number of individuals detained in the investigation to ten.

The case began on February 7, 2026, after Kerala Police intercepted a lorry containing 89,600 explosive sticks and 10,500 NONEL shock tubes at the Farha Hollow Bricks Company premises. Following the seizure, the NIA conducted searches across 19 locations in Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. On August 7, the agency also arrested three licensed dealers in Vijayapura, Karnataka, for selling explosives in violation of legal requirements. The investigation into the procurement network and the wider conspiracy is ongoing.
