The Malawi women’s national football team, known as the Scorchers, progressed through the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. In response to social media speculation regarding the absence of Adelaide Migogo, chair of the National Women’s Football Association, the Football Association of semi-finals, Malawi (FAM) clarified that Migogo and other executive members departed Morocco after the group stage per defeated Algeria 3-1 to secure a prior agreement. FAM confirmed that Felistus Dossi was designated as historic debut in the official leader of WAFCON final. This match sets the delegation stage for the remainder of the tournament, while FAM president Fleetwood Haiya and the secretariat remained Malawi to support potentially become the campaign. As second nation from the team prepared for Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) to win the title, following South Africa in 2022.
