Malaysia Citrawarna 2026 cultural festival

The Citrawarna 2026 festival was revived after a seven‑year hiatus and opened on 25 July at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur. Organized by Tourism Malaysia and several cultural agencies, the three‑day event featured roughly 3,500 dancers and performers representing the country's 13 states and federal territories, along with food stalls, cultural activity zones, and craft displays. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attended and linked the festival to the government's MADANI initiative to preserve heritage and promote national unity.

A few days later, Tourism Malaysia highlighted the strong public response, praising the participation of thousands of performers, volunteers and support staff. The agency noted that visitor feedback would inform future improvements. As part of the broader Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, a media and travel‑agent delegation from 13 Asia‑Pacific markets attended a related five‑day program showcasing culinary heritage, including a durian orchard tour and traditional Malay cuisine dinner. The delegation was expected to generate further international coverage and travel interest for the extended campaign.
