Marco Bonilla political activities in Chihuahua

Overview

Marco Bonilla, the State Coordinator of the Defenders of the Homeland, Family, and Liberty, has begun organizing political and regional development efforts in Chihuahua.

Following his swearing-in ceremony in Ciudad Juárez, which was attended by thousands and included political figures like Governor Maru Campos, Bonilla advocated for economic justice. He argued that the wealth generated by Ciudad Juárez should be reinvested locally to support infrastructure, security, and public services, while positioning his movement against the Morena party’s concentration of power.

Bonilla has since expanded these efforts through regional forums. In Nuevo Casas Grandes, he led the first ‘El Noroeste Tiene Voz’ state forum, gathering input from business, livestock, agriculture, academia, and civil society sectors. During this event, Jaime Armendáriz of the Grupo Empresarial del Noroeste emphasized that security is the “fundamental requirement” for driving the economy. Bonilla stated that proposals from these discussions would be integrated into the National Action Party (PAN) political platform.

In a subsequent meeting in Guerrero, Chihuahua, Bonilla met with more than 1,200 citizens to address regional challenges. Participants raised concerns regarding a lack of federal support for agriculture, the impact of drought and screwworm on livestock, and the difficulties local businesses face from rising costs and e-commerce. Additional community requests included the creation of the Pachigochi Technological University, increased student scholarships, and improved mental health services and teacher pensions.
