Mariachi performances for Mexican Fiestas Patrias

Overview

To celebrate the Fiestas Patrias, various mariachi ensembles scheduled free performances across Mexico.

In Mexico City, Mariachi 2000 was set to perform at the Centro Nacional de las Artes (CENART) on September 11, featuring a repertoire of boleros and rancheras. In Guanajuato, the Mariachi Universitario of the Universidad de Guanajuato Campus planned a free performance at the Teatro Principal for September 24, involving soprano Sindy Gutiérrez and the Ballet Silao, Danza y Canto ‘El Folklor’.

Following these plans, the Universidad de Guanajuato hosted the ‘¡Viva México!’ gala concert at the Teatro Principal. The event featured the Mariachi Universitario, which was founded in 2019, and included traditional pieces such as ‘Jarabe tapatío’, ‘Cielo rojo’, and ‘El son de la negra’. The performance was attended by university officials, including Rector Dr. Martín Picón Núñez and Director of Cultural Extension Dr. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez.
