Maritime and cultural activity in Messina

Overview

The port of Messina has seen significant maritime and cultural activity. Initially, the city experienced a major surge in tourism and regional mobility with the simultaneous arrival of three cruise ships—the Regatta, Norwegian Gem, and Azura—bringing approximately 9,100 passengers and crew members to the port.

This maritime activity transitioned into a focused cultural event with the arrival of the 18th ‘Crociera della Musica, Arte e Cultura Napoletana’ aboard the MSC World Europa. Hosted at the Palazzo dei Leoni, the event facilitated an exchange between Neapolitan and Sicilian traditions, featuring musical performances from artists representing both Southern Italian identities.
