Mato Grosso expands measures to combat violence against زنان

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Mato Grosso (MPMT) organized the 3rd Forum to Combat Violence Against Women in Primavera do Leste. This collaborative effort involves the Judiciary, Public Defense, and Civil and Military Police to strengthen institutional cooperation and improve prevention measures against domestic violence and femicide.

Efforts to combat violence have expanded into the legislative and educational spheres. Deputy Max Russi has advanced a bill that would require companies contracted by the state to reserve at least 5% of job openings for women in situations of vulnerability or victims of violence, aiming to provide the financial autonomy necessary to break cycles of dependency.

Furthermore, the Special Women's Attorney's Office (PEM) reported progress on the ‘Rota do Respeito’ project. During the first half of 2026, the initiative covered approximately 6,000 kilometers across the state, conducting 18 educational activities, such as lectures and workshops, to promote awareness.

Recent reports indicate a series of violent domestic incidents across the state. In Sorriso, a 20-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband six times while he slept. In Primavera do Leste, a 19-year-old man was arrested for physically assaulting his partner and threatening her with a kitchen knife in front of their infant daughter. In Ponta Porã, a 25-year-old man was apprehended while attempting to strangle a woman who held an active protective order against him. Other incidents include a woman in Campo Verde burning her husband’s vehicle and a man in Presidente Kennedy threatening his mother with a knife.
