Mazda refreshes SUV lineup and debuts electric models

Mazda is implementing a comprehensive update strategy for its SUV lineup following sales that fell short of expectations. The company reported selling 150,637 units of its Large Architecture-based models (CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90) in fiscal year 2025, missing a 200,000-unit target. CEO Masahiro Moro announced that these updates will be “unprecedented in scale,” involving significant changes to exterior design, interior technology, and powertrains to elevate these models to flagship status. As part of its electrification transition, Mazda has launched the CX-6e, a mid-sized, rear-wheel-drive electric SUV developed in collaboration with Changan.
