MBTA Orange Line service suspensions

Overview

The MBTA has implemented several service suspensions on the Orange Line to facilitate infrastructure and signal upgrades.

In late August, an 11-day shutdown occurred between Oak Grove and Back Bay stations to allow for track and signal improvements intended to increase train speeds. During this period, a shuttle bus error resulted in passengers being driven to the wrong destination, an incident the MBTA stated has been addressed with the vendor.

In mid-September, a five-day suspension was scheduled between Forest Hills and Back Bay. This phase of work focused on the Ruggles Station Improvements Project, accessibility upgrades at Jackson Square Station, concrete repairs, and signal modernization.
