Medical recruitment in Indian healthcare institutions

Medical institutions in India have announced various recruitment drives for clinical and support staff.

In late August 2026, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Chandigarh announced 131 vacancies for roles including Senior Resident, Junior Resident, and Medical Officer, with walk-in interviews scheduled for September 1. Concurrently, Indira Gandhi Hospital (IGH) in Dwarka released notifications for five Senior Resident positions in specialties such as Pathology, Microbiology, Radiology, and Emergency Medicine, with interviews set for September 3.

Following these announcements, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) announced 60 positions through direct recruitment. This includes 57 Group ‘C’ posts at the Chandigarh campus—covering roles such as Library Attendant, Animal Attendant, Barber, and Multi-Tasking Staff—and three positions at the Sangrur Satellite Center in Punjab, including a Medical Officer, a Computer Programmer, and a Pharmacist. Applications for the PGIMER roles open on September 3 and close on October 19.

On September 9, GMCH Chandigarh issued a new notification for nine additional positions. These vacancies consist of one Project Technical Support-III, six Project Nurse-III (Recruitment) roles, one Project Nurse-III (Follow-up), and one Project Nurse-III (Clinical Psychologist). Applicants must complete an offline application process by September 14. Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of 33,600 rupees, with selection determined through shortlisting, screening exams, and interviews.
