Meesho business expansion and financial performance

Overview

E-commerce platform Meesho has reported significant growth in its Indian value-commerce market, particularly among price-conscious consumers in smaller cities. Approximately 88% of the company’s consumer base now resides outside of India’s eight largest cities.

Financial reports for the second quarter of FY27 indicate a 34% year-on-year increase in operating revenue to ₹4,131.6 crore. During the same period, the company’s consolidated net loss was reduced by 68% year-on-year to ₹132.5 crore. Net Merchandise Value (NMV) grew by 23% to ₹12,911 crore.

Management attributed margin improvements to logistics efficiencies, such as enhanced delivery speeds and better address-accuracy tools. Additionally, Meesho has invested approximately ₹400 crore into its wholly-owned lending subsidiary, Meesho Payments Private Limited (MPPL), through a rights issue. These funds are intended to scale business operations and meet regulatory requirements as the subsidiary expands its offerings.
