Menopause support initiatives in UK and US

In July 2026, a coalition of UK clinicians, professional bodies and patient groups issued a consensus statement urging the government to turn the Renewed Women’s Health Strategy into a concrete NHS menopause service model. The proposal called for integration of menopause care into the Neighbourhood Health Service and women’s health hubs, with most treatment delivered in primary and community settings, dedicated specialists, ring‑fenced funding and expanded HRT pre‑payment certificates. It highlighted a waiting list of about 6,700 women and disparities affecting Black patients.

By early August 2026, attention to menopause had broadened to the workplace in the United States. At the Disability Management Employer Coalition conference, experts emphasized psychological safety and the need for systemic, not isolated, approaches to support employees experiencing menopause. They called for manager training, flexible accommodations, and the use of existing benefits, noting emerging state requirements such as Rhode Island’s mandate for workplace menopause accommodations. The discussion linked menopause support to broader employee wellbeing and organizational performance.
