Overview

A violent confrontation broke out on Jalan Tambak in Menteng, Central Jakarta, after two motorcyclists revved their engines near a street‑food stall. The clash escalated, causing one death, multiple injuries and the destruction of a nasi uduk vendor’s cart. Police arrested three suspects and deployed a joint security force of 188 officers—including Jakarta Metropolitan Police, the Indonesian National Police and the army’s Jaya Command—to restore order.

In the days that followed, authorities pledged to replace the damaged cart, and by 28 July street activity had largely returned to normal. Vendors such as batagor and tea sellers reopened stalls, while police and TNI continued patrols to deter further unrest. Local officials said they would improve coordination with community leaders to prevent similar incidents.
