Mercedes-Benz is marking significant milestones in the Argentine market. The company is celebrating 75 years of industrial operations in the country, noting that Argentina was the first nation outside of Germany to host a factory for the brand. In addition to its long-standing manufacturing presence, the brand is expanding its local commercial offerings. Mercedes-Maybach has officially launched its luxury division in Argentina through Prestige Auto and the Mercedes-Benz dealership network. The flagship model available for factory orders is the Mercedes-Maybach S 680, which features a 5.9-liter V12 biturbo engine producing 612 CV and 900 Nm of torque. Designed with a focus on passenger comfort, often referred to as ‘cocooning’, the interior includes executive rear seats with massage functions, 13.1-inch MBUX screens, and a Burmester High-End 4D surround sound system. The vehicle is also equipped with a 10-liter refrigerated compartment and folding tables to facilitate its use as a mobile office. The suggested price for the S 680 in Argentina is 359,900 USD, including VAT. This expansion coincides with broader shifts in the Argentine automotive market, as other brands also introduce new luxury and SUV models, such as Great Wall’s launch of the Haval H7 flagship D-SUV.
