Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-Benz are rolling out extensive updates to their is advancing its luxury S-Class and GLS lineups for the 2026 and 2027 model years. In Japan, For the updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class has launched, 2027 S-Class, Mercedes-Benz is introducing a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a mild hybrid system designed for quiet operation. Aesthetic updates include a redesigned exterior featuring an extended wheelbase that increases rear legroom by 180mm over 50 stars on the grille and a ‘MANUFAKTUR Made to Measure’ personalization program. The Japanese star-shaped daytime running lights, alongside enhanced driver assistance systems. In Japan, the S-Class lineup also has expanded to include S500 the S 500 4MATIC models with 3.0-litre inline-six engines. and the S 500 4MATIC long. The long-wheelbase version, which offers dimensions comparable to the Toyota Century, features the MBUX Superscreen, digital light technology, and an optional heated seatbelt system. Prices in Japan start at 17.08 million yen for the standard model and 21.36 million yen for the long version. Regional rollouts continue globally. India expects the refreshed S-Class to launch on October 5, 2026, with the S 580 and S 680 models. In Australia, the updated Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is expected in the first quarter of 2027, featuring the V8-powered S580 and the flagship V12-powered S680. While the V12 is being phased out in Europe due to Euro 7 emissions costs, it remains available in the United States, China, and the Middle East. Beyond the S-Class, Mercedes-Benz is updating its flagship GLS-Class with new fascias and a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 mild-hybrid system. The brand is also transitioning toward software-defined vehicles, integrating advanced MBUX virtual assistants and over-the-air updates across its upcoming generations.
