Metropolradruhr bike-sharing system expansion
Overview
The Metropolradruhr bike-sharing system is undergoing a district-wide rollout across several cities in the Recklinghausen district.
In early August, preparations were underway for the expansion into Waltrop, which planned for 31 rental bicycles and a designated location at Herne-Bay-Platz. This expansion is part of a larger initiative involving 635 bicycles and 157 stations across ten cities, supported by a subsidy of 663,000 Euro through 2030.
By the end of August, the system successfully launched in Dorsten and Oer-Erkenschwick. In Oer-Erkenschwick, the rollout included 33 bicycles across six locations, including the area near the Oer parish church. In Dorsten, bicycles became available at specific sites such as Handelsstraße in the Feldmark, though the system had not yet reached all intended locations.
