Mexican repatriation from the United States
Overview
Mexican nationals are being repatriated from the United States to various locations in Mexico. In September, a group of 103 individuals arrived at Campeche International Airport from El Paso, Texas, including five minors. Some of these unaccompanied minors were placed in state shelters while authorities attempted to locate relatives. In Quintana Roo, shelters have also been providing refuge to children and adolescents arriving via Tulum International Airport, including nationals from Brazil, Cuba, Guatemala, and El Salvador.
By October, further repatriation flights from El Paso to Campeche arrived, including a group of 119 individuals consisting of 110 men and seven women. This group included two unaccompanied 17-year-old males. Under the federal ‘México te abraza’ policy, officials in Campeche are providing medical services, documentation assistance, transportation, and financial payments. Local shelters, such as ‘Ajo’olnaj – Tu Techo’, are offering temporary housing, with some repatriated individuals choosing to settle in the state permanently.
