Overview
During the summer of 2026, Mexican authorities conducted security and assistance operations to support tourists in the states of Veracruz and Tamaulipas.
In Veracruz, the ‘Operativo Vacaciones Seguras Verano 2026’ and the Mexican Navy’s ‘Operación Salvavidas Verano 2026’ provided medical and emergency services. Specific incidents included the naval evacuation of a tourist suffering from acute abdominal pain and hypotension at Playa Villa del Mar. By the conclusion of the operation on August 30, officials reported 36 water rescues, 38 medical interventions, the location of two missing persons, and approximately 1,500 road assistance services.
In Tamaulipas, the ‘Ángeles Verdes’ program assisted over 3,500 tourists through mechanical support, information, and emergency accompaniment on major highways.
