The 2026 National Exam for Aspirants to Medical Residencies (ENARM) is being conducted across multiple Mexican locations, including Puebla and Yucatán. In Puebla, the 50th anniversary of the exam is hosted at the Centro Expositor. This year’s evaluation includes 19,000 residency positions across various specialties, including a new addition of 1,800 spots for dentistry. Health Secretary David Kershenobich noted that the exam is evolving to focus more on disease prevention. Nationally, approximately 57,712 applicants are expected to participate. In Yucatán, the exam is being held at the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention Center for the second consecutive year. Approximately 9,000 applicants are participating in the state, making Yucatán the second-largest venue for the event. The local hosting of the exam provides economic benefits to Mérida’s hospitality sector and reduces travel expenses for local doctors. Regarding the administrative timeline, the Inter-institutional Commission for the Training of Human Resources for Health (CIFRHS) has announced that the specialty selection guide for ENARM 2026 will be released after 18:00 hours on October 16, 2026. This guide is required for applicants to navigate the platform, requirements, and deadlines for selecting medical specialties and hospital residency sites.
