Recent reports show the crisis deepening at the facility level. The Hospital General Dr. Manuel Gea González is operating at 149 % of its designed capacity, forcing specialty appointments to be postponed into 2027 and limiting outpatient visits to 100 patients per day. At the Hospital General de Nuevo Laredo, directors highlight critical infrastructure decay—faulty drainage, medical‑gas networks and sterilization areas—calling for urgent investment and coordination with IMSS‑Bienestar to expand equipment and services.
