In mid‑July 2026 Mexican security forces launched a coordinated wave of raids across dozens of states, seizing firearms, ammunition, drugs, chemicals for drug production, exotic animals and other contraband while arresting dozens of suspects. A notable clash in Campo El Diez, Sinaloa, left a marine dead and resulted in the capture of four armed men in Culiacán with rifles, a pistol and more than 1,600 cartridges; a truck in Navolato was found with two AK‑47s and ammunition. The operations extended to Baja California, Mexico City, Estado de México, Jalisco, Michoacán, Oaxaca and other locations, where methamphetamine, marijuana, large‑scale weapon caches and tactical gear were recovered. In Arteaga, Michoacán, two suspects were detained after a vehicle chase, and in Matamoros an army unit seized an arsenal that included a foreign national. On 23 July a Code Red security operation was activated in Alvarado, Jalisco, after residents reported gunfire near the Valente Cruz colony. Forces cordoned the area, conducted patrols and inspections, and reported no injuries or arrests. A week later, raids in Chalco, Reynosa, Concordia (Sinaloa) and Nuevo Laredo reproduced earlier patterns: two men from a vehicle‑theft cell were arrested; short firearms and magazines were found hidden in a bus in Reynosa; three AK‑47s, thousands of cartridges and tactical gear were recovered in Concordia; and a regional Sinaloa Cartel leader, Adrián “N” (alias “El 20”), was captured in Mazatlán with heavy weapons and a vehicle. Hydrocarbon‑theft cells “Los Patrones” and “Los Rebollo” were dismantled in the State of Mexico, yielding gasoline, cash, weapons and vehicles, and navy personnel were summoned to testify in a fuel‑theft probe. In August, operations intensified in Michoacán under ‘Plan Michoacán’. During this period, the Mexican Navy (Semar) intercepted a vessel 315 kilometers southwest of Zihuatanejo carrying 1.9 tons of suspected cocaine, resulting in two arrests.
