Microduck robot launch and preorder surge
Overview
Following a demonstration by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at the GTC Berlin conference, the Microduck robot—a small, open-source bipedal device produced by Pollen Robotics (a subsidiary of Hugging Face)—has seen preorders exceed 20,000 units.
The 25-centimeter-tall robot is designed as a programmable platform for students and researchers to study robotic motor skills. The development workflow utilizes Nvidia’s technology stack, including the RTX Spark platform and Isaac Sim, to allow AI agents to develop movement models in virtual environments before transferring them to the physical hardware.
While promotional demonstrations showcased the robots performing actions like sitting and napping via voice commands, technical documentation clarifies that the AI agents' role focused on planning obstacle courses and assembling props within the simulation environment. The Microduck retails for $399, with deliveries expected to begin before the 2026 Christmas season.
