Migration and security enforcement in South America and Ceut

Overview

Migration management and security enforcement have intensified across several regions, including Ceuta, Peru, and Colombia.

In Ceuta, emergency services reported a 532.6 percent increase in security-related files between July 30 and September 10, following an influx of over 80,000 irregular migrants from Morocco. In Peru, authorities issued 2,807 deportation orders through September 2026 and conducted over 5,400 migration inspection operations involving more than 83,000 foreign citizens. A new functional unit was established in Peru to enhance migratory security and criminal investigation.

Efforts have expanded to address identity fraud and document forgery. In Colombia, the National Registrar of Civil Status canceled approximately 1,830 citizenship IDs held by foreigners due to false identities, utilizing artificial intelligence to detect patterns used by transnational criminal organizations. Meanwhile, Peruvian authorities conducted large-scale operations in Trujillo, intercepting 260 foreign nationals, 60 of whom were identified as being in an irregular migratory situation and subject to deportation.
